London, UK — February 5, 2025 — We are delighted to announce that George Liapis has joined PolyModels Hub as our newest Process Modeller Fellow!

George has a strong interdisciplinary background at the intersection of chemical engineering, optimization, and machine learning. He earned an Integrated Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where his research focused on optimizing production scheduling in the dairy industry. Currently, he is completing a PhD at University College London (UCL), where he develops optimization-based machine learning methodologies.

Throughout his PhD, George has combined operations research and machine learning to address complex problems, emphasizing the development of interpretable machine learning models and methods for explaining deep neural networks.

At PolyModels Hub, George will play a key role in advancing our modeling framework. His work will include integrating optimization packages and unit operation models, as well as delivering high-impact workflows for our customers.
